Zinc
A leading manufacturer of zinc alloys for the die casting and metals industries had a unique problem: A failed electric melting pot trapped several tons of hardened zinc alloy within the pot’s 2.5”- thick steel casing. The manufacturer needed a cost-effect way to extract the valuable alloy and leave it in precisely-weighted portions ready to be sold to end users.
First, Cutting Technologies’ (CTI) engineer reviewed the materials and devised a cutting schematic and methodology to achieve the goal. Then, after setting up and carefully positioning the necessary equipment, CTI’s metal cutting technician employed a diamond wire saw to quickly and accurately create the desired alloy blocks.
Seeing the value of CTI’s cutting process, the manufacturer quickly added more blocks of pure zinc to be cut and portioned, and has secured CTI to perform additional work at other facilities.
