Ground Penetrating Radar

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) uses radar pulses to create images of the subsurface beneath it. GPR is a non-destructive and non-invasive imaging method with a wide variety of applications in engineering demolition projects, such as:

• Mapping pipes (metallic and nonmetallic, including PVC) and cables
• Continuous inspection of layers in pavements
• Mapping cavities or voids beneath pavements
• Detailed inspection of concrete structures and location of steel reinforcing bars
• GPR can be used in 3-D mode to map multiple layers of steel in buildings, in turn, avoiding damage when drilling through such structures.
• Inspection and quality control of pre-cast concrete structures, such as bridge deck beams
• Mapping bedrock and excavation conditions along proposed cable or pipeline excavations
